Welcome to Inspector, a website at inspector.social and a mobile app (together, the “Service”), operated by an independent developer (“Inspector”, “we”, “us”, “our”). By using the Service, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you don’t agree, don’t use the Service.

U.S. users: these Terms include a binding arbitration clause and class-action waiver (see Binding arbitration). It affects how disputes are resolved and includes an opt-out right.

What Inspector is

The Website lets you view and download publicly available Instagram content — stories, highlights, reels, and profile photos — anonymously, without an account. The App additionally lets you track public profiles, get alerts about follower and content changes, and view follower demographics.

Inspector is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to Instagram or Meta Platforms, Inc. We retrieve publicly available data to provide the Service and don’t guarantee its accuracy, completeness, or availability; Instagram may change its platform at any time, which can affect the Service.

Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old (16 in the EEA/UK) to use the Service. If you are between 13 and 17, you confirm that a parent or guardian has agreed to these Terms on your behalf. We may restrict access where required by law.

Accounts (app)

The App uses anonymous authentication — no email, password, or social login. Your account is tied to your device by an anonymous identifier and can’t be transferred between devices; if you lose your device, the account and its data may be unrecoverable. You’re responsible for your device’s security. The Website requires no account.

Subscriptions & payments (app)

The App offers free and premium tiers. Premium subscriptions are sold as in-app purchases through the Apple App Store or Google Play; we use a third-party provider to track subscription status and never process or store your payment details. Pricing may vary by region. Renewals, cancellations, and refunds are governed by the relevant store — manage them in your device’s subscription settings (Apple, Google). Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. Viewing and downloading on the Website are free.

Acceptable use

You agree to use the Service lawfully and only as permitted by these Terms. You must not:

• Use the Service to stalk, harass, bully, or intimidate anyone
• Use content obtained through the Service to violate Instagram’s terms or anyone’s privacy or other rights
• Circumvent usage limits or subscription restrictions
• Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the Service
• Use bots, scrapers, or other automated tools against the Service
• Interfere with or disrupt our infrastructure, or attempt unauthorized access to our systems or other users’ data
• Impersonate any person or entity, or use the Service for unauthorized commercial purposes
• Violate any applicable law, regulation, or third-party right

We may suspend or terminate access that violates these Terms, without prior notice.

Instagram data & third-party content

The Service displays publicly available Instagram content, which we don’t own or control. Usernames, profile pictures, posts, stories, reels, and other content belong to the respective Instagram users or Meta Platforms, Inc. You’re responsible for how you use any content you view or download, and you must respect the rights of the people it belongs to.

Intellectual property

The Service — its design, code, features, and branding (but not third-party content such as Instagram data) — belongs to us and is protected by intellectual-property laws. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Service for personal, non-commercial purposes. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or create derivative works of it.

Privacy

Your use of the Service is governed by our Privacy Policy. By using the Service, you consent to the practices it describes.

Disclaimer of warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE”, WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, SECURE, OR ERROR-FREE, OR THAT INSTAGRAM DATA SHOWN WILL BE ACCURATE, COMPLETE, OR CURRENT.

Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, PUNITIVE, OR EXEMPLARY DAMAGES, OR FOR LOST PROFITS, DATA, OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE SERVICE. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM WILL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM, OR US$50, WHICHEVER IS GREATER.

Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold us harmless from any claims, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the Service, your violation of these Terms, your violation of any third-party right, or your use of Instagram data obtained through the Service. This survives termination.

Termination

You can stop using the Website at any time, and delete your App account at any time in the app settings (which permanently removes your associated data). We may suspend or terminate access, or discontinue the Service, at any time — with notice where reasonable. Provisions that should survive termination (intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnification, and arbitration) will survive.

Changes to these terms

We may modify these Terms. Material changes will be noted here, and the “Last updated” date above reflects the latest revision. Continued use after a change means you accept it; if you disagree, stop using the Service.

Third-party services

The Service relies on third-party providers (hosting and data retrieval, and — for the App — subscriptions, analytics, and push delivery), each governed by its own terms and privacy policy. The Website also shows ads served by third-party advertising partners; how advertising and cookies are handled is described in our Privacy Policy. We’re not responsible for third-party services or for any third-party sites we link to.

Informal dispute resolution

Before bringing a formal claim, you agree to try to resolve any dispute informally by emailing support@inspector.social. If it isn’t resolved within 30 days, either party may proceed.

Binding arbitration & class waiver (U.S. users only)

Arbitration. You and Inspector agree that disputes arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service will be resolved by binding arbitration, except that either party may bring an individual claim in small-claims court or seek injunctive relief to protect intellectual-property rights.

Class waiver. CLAIMS MAY BE BROUGHT ONLY IN AN INDIVIDUAL CAPACITY, AND NOT AS A PLAINTIFF OR CLASS MEMBER IN ANY CLASS OR REPRESENTATIVE PROCEEDING. BY AGREEING TO THESE TERMS, YOU WAIVE THE RIGHT TO A JURY TRIAL AND TO PARTICIPATE IN A CLASS ACTION.

Rules & opt-out. Arbitration follows the American Arbitration Association’s consumer rules (adr.org). You may opt out by emailing support@inspector.social within 30 days of first accepting these Terms, including your name and a clear statement that you wish to opt out; opting out doesn’t affect the rest of these Terms. If this section is unenforceable, it is void and disputes go to a court of competent jurisdiction.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by applicable law, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. For U.S. users, the arbitration provisions above apply; otherwise, the parties submit to the jurisdiction of a court of competent jurisdiction.

Miscellaneous

• Entire agreement. These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and Inspector regarding the Service.
• Severability. If any provision is unenforceable, the rest remain in effect.
• No waiver. Our failure to enforce a provision isn’t a waiver of it.
• Assignment. You may not assign these Terms; we may.
• Force majeure. We aren’t liable for delays or failures caused by events beyond our reasonable control.
